Quick answer
You need a bank account in the applicant’s own name so the monthly benefit can be transferred to her directly. Account details are entered on the official portal during the application. The list of participating banks is published on dly.delhi.gov.in and can change, so check it there before you nominate or open an account.
The requirement in plain terms
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Bank Account Requirements
A bank account in the applicant's name is required so the monthly benefit can be transferred directly (Direct Benefit Transfer).
- The account should be in the applicant's own name.
- The official portal specifies the participating banks and any CBDC (e-Rupee) ecosystem requirements.
- Keep your bank passbook / account details ready when applying on the official portal.
Participating banks
The list of participating banks is published on the official portal and can change. We do not reproduce bank names here unless we have verified them, so please open dly.delhi.gov.in and check the current list before you open or nominate an account.
Participating banks and account requirements can change. Check the official portal for the current list before applying.
Why the account must be in her own name
The scheme pays the beneficiary. An account in a husband’s, father’s or son’s name defeats the point of a benefit designed to reach women directly, and it will not satisfy verification. If the applicant does not currently hold an account in her own name, opening one is a necessary first step rather than an optional improvement.
Which banks participate
The official portal publishes the list of banks that participate in the scheme’s deposit and digital-wallet arrangements. Reported News reporting in August 2026 referred to a list of participating banks numbering around nineteen. We deliberately do not reproduce bank names here unless we have confirmed them on the official portal ourselves — an out-of-date bank list is exactly the kind of small error that sends someone to the wrong branch.
What you should never share
This matters more than anything else on this page. You will enter bank details on the official government portal as part of the application. You should never share the following with any other website, caller or “agent”:
- Your OTP — under any circumstances, to anyone.
- Your debit card number, PIN or CVV. No benefit scheme needs these.
- Your net-banking password or UPI PIN.
- Your Aadhaar OTP for a verification you did not initiate.
Common bank-related problems
- Account name not matching the applicant’s name as recorded on Aadhaar.
- A dormant or inactive account that has not been used for a long time.
- Nominating a joint account where the applicant is not the primary holder.
- Typing the account number or IFSC incorrectly on the portal — worth checking twice, because it delays money.
