What each stage actually asks for

The portal breaks the form into sections rather than one long page, which means you can lose your place if the connection drops. Work through it in one sitting if you can.

• Eligibility questions. These come first and act as a gate. Answer them honestly — the answers are checked later against records, and a convenient answer now becomes a rejection later.
• Personal and identity details. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar. A mismatch in spelling or initials between Aadhaar and Voter ID is one of the most common reasons a record fails verification.
• Family member details. The scheme is assessed at family level, so this section is not optional padding — it is how the department establishes that you are the eldest eligible woman and how income and exclusions are assessed.
• Bank account details. Give an account in your own name. Do not use a spouse’s or a son’s account.
• Document upload. Follow the file type and size limits shown on the portal. If an upload keeps failing, the file is usually too large rather than the wrong type.
• Preview and submit. Read the preview properly. This is your last cheap chance to catch a typo.

The MP/MLA endorsement letter

This is the step that stalls most applications, so treat it as a task in its own right rather than an afterthought.

• The endorsement is generated from the portal — you do not draft it yourself.
• It must be signed by the MP or MLA of your own constituency. An endorsement from a different constituency does not help you.
• You then upload the signed copy back to the portal.
• Until the signed endorsement is uploaded, the application is not complete, whatever else you have submitted.

Practical advice: find out your MLA office’s public hours before travelling, carry a printed copy plus your Aadhaar and Voter ID, and take a clear photograph of the signed letter immediately in case the original goes astray.
